Overestimating? You could be in a thinking trap!

Mar 06, 2022

I hope your day is going well so far. LET US START THE DAY OFF RIGHT before we start. Let us hunt for the good stuff in your life.

What are some of the things that get you excited in life?

What have you done lately that you were not able to do before?

What are you grateful for today?

Yesterday, we went over the differences between a growth and fixed mindset and how thinking traps affect each one. Today, I want to talk about the importance of resilience and its ability to help you flourish mentally and emotionally.

The goal in life is not to be perfect and show no cracks; it is about being human and accepting that we have flaws. Accept that we fail at things and often fall into thinking traps.

Failing is a part of our growth, and we should never flee from failure. The key is how we respond to these failures, which can vary from situation to situation. One way of responding is by having resilience, which involves bouncing back from adversity by adopting a positive mindset and making the best out of every problem we face. Thinking traps do not stop people who are resilient to life's stressors; they keep moving forward.

What is resilience? For most, it's the ability to regain composure after experiencing a damaging setback. For some, it's the ability to bounce back stronger than before. And for others, resilience is the ability to feel and cope with both positive and negative emotions in healthy ways. These definitions are correct since resilience is an individual experience we all have in different ways.

When you think about resilience, consider how you have coped with stressors in your work, environment, at home, with people in your life, and in other situations like improving efforts in life.

To develop or cultivate resilience, we must have self-awareness. Tomorrow I will talk more about self-awareness and why it is essential to avoid thinking traps.
